What is the difference between Home Health Care and Hospice?
Home health care means any healthcare related service provided in the home.
Hospice is a model of medical care specifically for patients who have a diagnosis that is considered terminal, with a life expectancy of six months or less, if the illness follows its natural course.
Hospice emphasizes comfort and support, not treatment. Hospice care can be provided in the home as well as in other settings, such as an assisted living apartment.
Premier Home Health Care is NOT a hospice provider. If a patient’s condition should change and it appears Hospice care would serve their needs better, PHHC will work with the patient and their family members to make the change to one of the outstanding Hospice providers in this area.
